History

The Payne Mansion was built for Theodore F. Payne in 1881, designed by Curlett & Cuthbertson, and is registered with the California Historical Society. The Payne Mansion survived the 1906 fire to become a 134-year old historic San Francisco landmark.
While the Payne Mansion has gone through several phases of major renovations, it is still a showcase of classic Victorian-era architecture and exquisite craftsmanship, retaining all of its original design, charm and beauty.
The Payne Mansion recently underwent a near 20 month,  $3,000,000 renovation that transformed it into the high-end boutique hotel that stands today.
